Hey there BliTzer,

That is a great question! Google gets their images from the Google Cultural Institute. I'm not well versed in the details, but here is their step-by-step guide on how to submit art through them. It involves signing up for their program, and you can find details for that on their FAQ

I hope that answers your questions! Let us know if you had any more questions, and we'll be happy to help where we can.

Best regards,

Jeran

I did it by opening my Chromecast home app, click on settings then go to  ambient settings, then click on Google photos to be played. I think there's three selections & Google photos is one. After clicking make sure you save settings if asked. GL

BliTzer's answer will display your pictures on YOUR Chromecast device.

However, Google doesn't currently have a way for you to submit your pictures to be added to the standard Ambient Mode collection that is shown to everyone else in the world.
