How to use Chromecast with Google TV?

Gabbee

Can anyone recommend websites explaining Chromecast with Google TV for dummies. I got some excellent help here, but I really felt it should have been easier.

I bought the device so I could cast my mobile/tablet to my TV, and also to view shows from local TV catchup/ondemand apps. I thought it would be simple (and it was if I just wanted to use the remote).

What I'm looking for is a set of scenarios giving step-by-step examples of typical uses. I know some of these won't apply to me (like the multi-device and home cinema casting), but it would be a great help in getting started.

You can: cast photos from Google photos like a slide show, set up certain pictures to slide across your TV instead of the stock photos you see, cast (youtube, Hulu, Disney plus starrs , paramount, amazon tv, etc. And some third party apks to watch new movies for free though the legality of those is a weird Grey area would recommend a VPN if doing so isps can be stingy and send a letter of ceased and assist) cast music from (Spotify, pandora, youtube music, you can cast your phone screen to show anything from your phone including games your playing. If what your looking for is anything mentioned above I can help you or if you were thinking of something else send me a message and I can help the best I can

Hi @Gabbee if you're confused about anything this is a good place to ask. I will say this, if you have a CCwGTV you may not even need your tablet. For example, some of the apps you have for watching shows on the tablet may already be pre-installed on your CCwGTV or you can download them and install them to the device. The only thing you will need to do is make sure you log into (set up your account) on those apps on the CCwGTV. Examples include Hulu, Netflix, Disney Plus.

If, by chance, you subscribe to YouTubeTV, again, you'd make sure you've setup the app on the CCwGTV, using the same account info and it's all there. Recorded shows will show up under the library tab so you can binge 'til your heart's content. If you have specific questions post them here and we'll try to help you figure it out. But honestly, it's too much to try and figure out every possible scenario in advance for you. Tell us how you use it or what you want to do and we can try and help make suggestions for your style of viewing. Everyone's viewing habits are different so one size doesn't fit all.

Thanks. I have, but it's difficult to get guidance when you don't know what it *can* do.

Chromecast is a powerful resource, but one I'm not very familiar with.

You can also set it up if you have nest cameras to show you who is at your front door or where ever you have your cameras

I guess that  once you know and love CCwGTV - particularly if you've got solid experience in casting - a question about what it might do for someone else might seen strange. OTOH, it probably has something to do with the skill or willingness to see things from someone else's point of view.

Thanks for the responses! These have been very useful. I'm still a little gobsmacked that there is so little general info out there as what it's good for.
