Local network access

I’ve been trying to set up my chrome cast to my tv in my apartment. It connects to the wifi but then I get this message:

Living Room TV may be set up, but we could not communicate with it from your iPhone. Make sure that you have enabled local network access in your iPhone’s privacy settings. Then try again.

I’ve made sure all my location and network settings are on. I’ve restarted the chrome cast twice and restarted my phone and nothing seems to work. Not sure what more there is for me to do. My local network setting is on for Google home and all my streaming apps my wifi is on and connected to the same network as my tv and chrome cast. Please help!!!

Hey there Emma-Freytag,

I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast is giving you some connection troubles! These networking issues can be tricky to troubleshoot on your own, so I'd be happy to help you out. Of course, just to be safe, here is how to activate those settings for individual apps:

On your iOS device’s home screen (iOS 14 or later), tap Settings.

  1. Tap Privacy
  2. Tap Local Network. You’ll find a list of apps.
  3. Turn on Local Network Access for the app(s) you would like to allow access to your network. This will allow permissions for your device to discover Cast-enabled devices.

If this does not work, be sure to restart both your phone and your Wi-Fi router. Finally, I would also check out this article as well and follow the steps listed. I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
