Looking for Weak 4K Link

My goal is to pass a 4K Video signal from my router to a  Chromecast/Google TV to a Yamaha Receiver and then to an LG OLED television.

Each component supports 4K (according to OEM documentation) and the LG TV displays 4K when a signal is streamed directly to the TV.

But I cannot get 4K to display on the television when it starts from the Chromecast receiver. I know this both by eye and, more reliably, because Netflix and Prime Video display only the HD logo instead of a UHD or 4K logo even for content that display a UHD or 4K logo when streamed directly to the television.

So far, I've ruled out the Chromecast device, because the symptoms don't change when I swap the Chromecast device out for a 4K compatible Roku stick (albeit an older one). And it can't be the Router or TV because, as I mentioned, the TV displays in 4K directly streamed content.

This means the problem is in some setting (though I've confirmed 4K is settings I've found on the Chromecast device and TV) or in the Yamaha Receiver or in the cables leading between the Chromecast Device and Receiver or between the Receiver and the TV.

As it turns out, I've just bought and plan to install an upgraded receiver anyway, but there remains the possibility that there is a problem in some setting I don't know about or in the cables.  And I'd welcome any suggestion that doesn't start with swapping out all the cables (some of which are in the wall).

Thanks in advance.

PS: The menu choices "Choose a Platform" or underinclusive. I stream directly from the router without using an Andorid device or an IOS device or any Web Browser (unless the Chromecast display itself counts as a browser).

Hi Lobalobo,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the late response. Let's sort this out.

Where is the Chromecast connected, is it directly on the HDMI port on your TV or in your receiver? Please check the supported formats under Dynamic range format preference. Go to Google TV settings > Display and sound. Also, please try to enable HDMI-CEC enabled devices on the same settings.

Thanks,

Jennifer
