MY Chromcast with Google TV REMOTE STOPPED WORKING

My Google Chromecast with Google TV remote stopped working suddenly. I was using it just minutes before and it just stopped responding. I replaced the batteries to new ones, tried to reboot the remote (hold the home button and re-inserting the batteries), updated the software, restarted the Chromecast devise, rebooted the Chromecast devise (unplugged it and plugged it back in), unpaired the remote (clicked 'forget device') and have now tried repeatedly for 2 days to re-pair the remote using all the above steps at least twice; but it still will not pair. The remote just blinks all the time. I need this fixed as my parents do not know how to use the remote in the Google home app and need an old fashioned remote control - which is why I purchased this product on the first place. Desperately need it fixed in time for NYE!
Note: I am doing this on a Google Chromecast with Google TV (not an android or issues with casting, just no option in dropdown menu for the issue I am having).

Hi @Shannon_M 

Have you also tried to hold the back and the home button for longer?
This should turn the remote into pairing mode. 🙂

 

 

 

Thanks for the suggestion - yes I tried that several times with no luck. Ended up factory resetting my Google TV to fix it. It was a pain to re-install everything and log back into my apps again, but I needed my remote back 🙂

Did you try contacting Google Nest Support?

If you fill out the questions you should get the option to chat. 🙂

They were unable to help, said it needed to go to tech support or something like that and there is only an email option for customers in Australia.

That is totally understandable. If you have the time, would you be able to submit feedback via Google Home? Google takes all feedback seriously, and the more feedback they receive regarding a specific change or feature, the more likely they are to prioritize it.

Update: I tried absolutely everything suggested in the help pages and nothing worked. It was a pain, but the only thing that worked was a factory reset of the GoogleTV device. Sorry all, but this seems to be the only solution that actually works.
