My remote won’t pair. The led on the remote pulses slowly when the batteries are installed indicating not paired.. The Chromecast responds and works fine when addressed by my Google hub. It has worked for a year and suddenly entered this not pared mode. The Chromecast doesn’t find this remote. I have other identical Chromecast in the house but don’t want to upset them. Suggestions? I’m all ears and would be grateful for suggestions.

I added my phone as a remote:
then went to remove the current associated remote and add it again. There was an update pending. Installed the update (it took two times as it failed on the first attempt).
now the remote works correctly. I hope this helps. Good luck

Thanks for your comments spfrank. I’m going to update, based on your experience. I’ve ordered a complete new Chromecast as they are not too pricy. I will be pleased to get this unit restored. The remote has hit the carpet a few time from a coffee table height which should not have caused damage. It might take a few days todo the update but I will comment here as it might help others..
Can the remote alone be updated? Probably not. I presume it is the Chromecast and I’m sure that is easy to do.

I can’t access the Google tv……to accomplish an update.
so I can’t update. I can’t find a Google tv remote on the App Store to install on my iPad. I think the remote must be toasted. Whenever I install its batteries the led pulses slowly. If I reset the Chromecast it doesn’t find the remote which is apparently in paring mode.
When the new Chromecast with Google TV arrives, I can test with its new remote.

I conclusion…….I’m an iOS guy and was not able to get the android remote app on my iPad to pair my Chromecast….scrap that.
The brand new Chromecast with Google TV arrived. The old Chromecast could not find the new remote, so I bit the bullet, held the reset button down for 25 seconds and restored the old Chromecast to factory settings. It then found the old remote and everything quacks like a duck. (Works fine). This leaves me with a complete new Chromecast, remote, power supply and cable as spares.
