My chromecast is saying "some features only availble when connected to the same network"

I have recently bought this chromecast. The above error message comes up on the Google home app.

I have tried troubleshooting. Reset routers, factory reset and checked for software updates. None of these have brought resolution.

The only point I cannot see is the chromecast requesting local network access. I can't change the setting as the permission has never been asked.

At a loss. I have also bought a chromecast ultra and do not want it if this will happen.

Hey there TomSpider,

I apologize about the late response on this thread, thank you for your patience! Were you able to figure out that issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know networking issues can be a headache to figure out on your own. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • Are you connecting to a 2.4GHz network, or a 5GHz network?
  • Are all the devices related to the Chromecast (phone, Chromecast, tablet, etc.) connected to the same network band?
  • Is your Google Home app up-to-date?
  • What is the firmware version of the Chromecast?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
