My neighbor keeps connecting to my smart tv via smart cast, how do I disable it so they can't do it?

I live in an apartment complex where we share the wifi (it's included in the rent). My neighbor(s) keeps connecting to my Sony Vizio tv via the smart cast feature. It's so annoying. I'll be watching something and then the screen changes and I'm watching everything they are doing on their phone or what they are watching on youtube. I don't know which neighbor is as that I'm surrounded by other units. Whoever is doing this also has the ability to turn my tv on, which isn't cool when it's 2 am and I'm trying to sleep. I have even changed the name to my tv to Stop Connecting To My Tv! so you can see that in the list of devices to connect to. I've even seen them go into their settings to try to disconnect but they NEVER hit disconnect, they just back out of the page. Is there a way I can disable this feature so that my tv doesn't show up in the list of devices that they can connect to? Help Please!

Hi,

If your neighbors share a wifi network with you then they will be able to cast or control your cast devices. If I lived in a shared wifi home, I suggest researching ways you can create your own secure network within your apartment.

Articles such as this one are a start.

Hope this helps!

Hi KountryFences81,

A Google Chromecast is designed for private secure home WiFi networks and not shared networks. You could purchase a travel router / WiFi repeater that would allow you to setup your own WiFi network running from the apartment complex network but you should ask for permission first from the network administrator.
