Nest Hub often does not start YouTube TV on my Chromecast with Google TV

I have a Nest Home Hub (original) in my bedroom, and a Chromecast with Google TV on the same network, same Google account, and they are set in the Google Home app as being in the same room. I also have a subscription to YouTube TV.

When I say "Hey Google, play USA on Chromecast" it will say it is going to do it, but the Chromecast does nothing. If the TV is off, HDMI-CEC will turn the TV on and change input, but it will not even open YouTube TV.

Today, after this issue occurred, I used the Chromecast remote to "play USA Network" and YouTube TV opened to the correct channel. Since then, Nest Hub can switch channels on Chromecast fine. However, after rebooting the Chromecast with Google TV, and after waiting for the home screen to load, the issue is replicated. And it happens the first time of the day when I use it.

Would appreciate any help.

I apologize about the late response on this, thank you for your patience! Were you able to fix that Assistant issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know things can get a bit finicky with the Assistant sometimes. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:
 

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • What is the firmware version of the Chromecast?
  • What is the firmware version of the Google Nest Hub?
  • Is your Google Home app up-to-date?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?
