New Google TV and Xfinity

My goal was to watch Xfinity on my new Google TV. Was told they were compatible. So far they are not. Old chromecast had app for xfinity but this new one does not. Can someone help. I have a Google home so it’s my first choice over Roku or fire stick. I can stream xfinity from iPhone to TV but not what I was looking for.

Hi Nasaman,

The new Chromecast with Google TV is the only Chromecast device that can install apps and it's down to the service provider or app developer to decide what devices their app can be installed on. See link below.

Although Google doesn't recommend side loading apps if you search online you will find other users have taken this approach to get the Xfinity app on a Chromecast with Google TV.

Please contact Xfinity support and request that they release their app officially on the Google play store for the Chromecast with Google.

No problem at all, we'd be happy to help out, let me just ask you a few questions! Were you able to find the Xfinity app on the Google Play Store app? Did you contact Xfinity support to help you? Did you read the FAQ that Cathal provided? Are you trying to install the app on the Chromecast with Google TV itself, or cast from the Xfinity app on your mobile device?

No was not able to find app at Google play. 
Tried to side load app but couldn’t turn off Google security to allow. 
yes contacted Xfinity and requested help and app to be accepted with Google.
Yes I can stream from iPhone to TV not a good option.

also wouldn’t need Google TV then.

Thank you for your response! Like Cathal pointed out, it's up to the app developer, Xfinity in this case, to allow apps to available for download for different devices. I would continue your conversation with Xfinity, because sadly, there isn't much Google can do in this case.
