Hey Tony,

I totally understand how much of a headache this issue can be, since there is a number of factors at play. Let me ask a few more questions to better understand the issue:

What Operating System are you using on that laptop?
Has there been any changes in your network?
Are you using a dual-band router?
How far is the laptop from the router?

For now, I would try the following steps:
  1. Make sure the laptop is on the same network band as the Chromecast device (Chromecast with Google TV works better on a 5GHz band).
  2. Confirm the Google Chrome browser is up-to-date.
  3. Disconnect from any VPNs or proxy servers, since Chromecast devices can't communicate with a laptop over these networks.
  4. Ensure that the firewall and/or antivirus software are up-to-date and aren’t blocking connections to the Chromecast device.
  5. If you have a dual-band router, Access Point (AP) isolation must be disabled.
  6. If you have a dual-band router, reduce network congestion for both networks, connect the other devices unrelated to Chromecast, such as laptops, phones, tablet, to the 2.4GHz network and leave the Chromecast connected to the 5GHz network.
Since you mentioned that other devices can connect successfully to the Chromecast, that points to the issue lying somewhere with the laptop or the Google Chrome browser. I look forward to your response, and I appreciate your patience.

Thank you,

I'm experiencing the same problem; and went through the same trouble shooting steps,

My Chrome cast was working great - but now it only works on my cell phone; my laptop says 'No Device Found'??

Nothing was changed, except now it doesn't work from my laptop.

HELP

Hey there,

I am sorry to hear that your laptop can't cast to your Chromecast! I know from experience that it's a tough issue to solve on your own. I'd be happy to help out, let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • What type of Chromecast do you have?
  • Do you have a dual-band router?
  • Is your Google Chrome up-to-date?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
