Direct playback, not casting from other devices.

Playing YouTube on Chromecast with Google TV (4K) crashes

The app cuts the video 1 to 2 seconds before the crash and then goes to the home screen after the crash.

In addition, I have been using chromecast with Google tv (4K) since early October.

previous device mi box s had the same problem from early 2022

Should I use a third-party YouTube app again?

youtube version: 3.01.005 latest version

 things I tried

 1. Reset within the Youtube app

 2. Clear YouTube data

 3. Uninstall the update and reinstall it

Hi qowmq,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Let's check this further.

A few questions: is this only happening with the YouTube app or across all apps? How long does it take before it stops playing or streaming? Did the video buffer or pixelate before it stopped streaming?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Reboot the Chromecast with Google TV and Wi-Fi router.
  2. Play other videos and try other apps.
  3. Try to plug in the Chromecast with Google TV into a different HDMI port on your TV.
  4. Plug it in on a different TV screen, if possible.
  5. Factory reset your Chromecast with Google TV.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi folks,

@JenniferV, thanks for the help.

@qowmq, I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Best,

Dan

It only happened on the YouTube app, and other apps (Netflix, Plex) had no such problem.

stopping point is random. Right after startup, minutes, seconds, etc...

video is not buffered or pixelated. The sound cuts off for about a second and the stops.

I tried items 1-5, but it didn't help.

Are there any compatibility issues with the wireless headset used as a USB dongle?

Come to think of it, YouTube crash only when using the CORSAIR VOID RGB ELITE WIRELESS headset.

Hello Seanyboy77,

Thanks for getting back to me.

When you mentioned that the YouTube app on your Chromecast with Google TV only crashes when using the Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless headset, does that mean if not in use, it works fine? Could you duplicate the concern without the wireless headset?

Tell me how it goes.

Best,
Dan

Only the wireless headset (USB dongle) had a problem, other TV speakers or Bluetooth speakers had no problems.

Hello again,

It would seem that this is an isolated case already. Since it's only happening with the wireless headset(USB dongle). To set your expectations, our Google devices rely heavily on the functions of others. Because we're not able to change the settings of your wireless headset, I suggest you contact them first instead of doing all the troubleshooting with your Chromecast, which doesn't have any concerns.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Dan

thanks for the reply
Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless is not officially supported by android, so it seems difficult to get support. It seems better to give up watching YouTube with that headset.

Hey there qowmq,

I'm sorry to hear that! While I'm not sure whether it's an update needed on Google's or Corsair's firmware, I would encourage you to submit feedback via Google TV to let Google know that the device doesn't work properly. In the meantime, do you have any more questions or need any additional help?

Best regards,
Jeran

In addition, even if you press the remote control on the lock screen where art is displayed, the lock does not unlock, only the wallpaper changes. It cannot be restarted by pressing the power button, so it can be turned off again after restarting by unplugging the power.

It's not always like that, but it's been a while.

Hey there qowmq,

Thank you for letting us know! If you've submitted feedback regarding the Corsair device, if there were any error logs generated from other issues such as the lock screen not unlocking, they would be sent to the Chromecast Engineering team to look into. In the meantime, are there any other questions you had or anything we can address?

Best regards,

Jeran
