Playing video audio from Chromecast to Mini Speakers

I have a Mini Speaker Pair set up. I can use the media tab in the Home App to play music from my Chromecast and Mini's at the same time.

However getting it to work for when I'm casting Netflix or any other visual content has been a challenge. I'm hoping I'm just missing something but if there was an option to cast the video's audio like when I play media in the Home app that would be a big improvement over the current situation.

You should be able to cast the stream (I just tried using Plex Media Player), sent a cast to my Den TV, then went into the Google Home App, media, clicked on the media stream, and added my google home speaker, worked perfect.  Give that a shot!

As you've discovered, music and video is handled differently.

Music can be played to a Group that includes speakers and TVs.

However, video can't do that.

One way around is to use a different streaming platform like Plex (as suggested already) but that can be complex to setup.

The new Chromecast with Google TV (the oblong version that comes with a remote) works around this by being able to connect to a bluetooth speaker or headphone.  But that's the only model of Chromecast that can do that.  You can't do it with older (round) models at all.

Thank you for the information. I wonder though if you were to connect to the Mini Speaker Pair through Bluetooth if it'd send the audio still in Left and Right Channels. That was my main interest when first setting them up.
