Poor Quality Audio when casting from laptop

I am unsure of the generation of Chromecast I have but but when I cast from my laptop via Google Chrome Browser, the sound quality is poor. It works fine if I cast from my phone. A notification flashed to say to optimize and the sound was louder but when I closed the browser and reopened it went back to being poor. Any suggestions?

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out. 

 

Quick questions: what is the make and model of your laptop? When did the issue start? 

 

Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Close all open browser tabs and restart the Chrome browser.
  2. Make sure the Chrome browser is on the most recent version (51 or higher).
  3. Disable Allow all sites to initiate mirroring. Here's how: On the the address bar, type chrome://flags/ > Look for Allow all sites to initiate mirroring and set to Disable > Click Save.
  4. Reboot your laptop.
  5. Reboot your Chromecast.
