Problem with start chromecast audio

WitekMr
Community Member

Hi, my chromecast audio wont start.

When the power is turned on, the orange LED and spdif immediately light up. Nothing changes even when I try to reset the device. If before connecting the power supply I hold the reset pressed, for about 2 seconds the green LED lights up and then changes color to orange and so it remains. Is there a chance to manually re-upload the firmware? How to do it? Where to download the firmware? Thank you in advance for your constructive answers and help.

Regards Witold

Hey there WitekMr,

I'm sorry about the late response, thank you for your patience! Were you able to fix that Chromecast Audio? If not, I'd be happy to help out, let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?

  • When you leave the device alone, does the LED pulse orange or is it solid orange?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I would first check out this article on updates to your Chromecast Audio, it's supposed to keep itself up-to-date automatically. If the LED light is pulsing orange, then it's applying an update. If it's solid, you may need to reboot or factory reset the device.

I hope that helps you out! If you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jeran

Hello Jeran,
i bought 2 chromecasts on ebay at the beginning of the year. I started one egemaster and it works properly. I started the second copy only recently and from the beginning the device does not turn on.

When the power is turned on, the orange LED and spdif immediately light up. Nothing changes even when I try to reset the device. If before connecting the power supply I hold the reset pressed, for about 2 seconds the green LED lights up and then changes color to orange and so it remains.

Restoring the device to factory settings did not do anything.

Hey WitekMr,

I don't suppose that orange light is a solid orange, not pulsing? If that's the case, and a factory reset did not do anything, I'm afraid the device may be dead, and you would need to replace it, unfortunately.

I look forward to your response,

Jeran

I understand that in this case it is not possible to upload the firmware again?

As a user, I don't think there is anything you can do to fix the firmware. However, if your device is in warranty, you may be able to contact Google to look at getting that device replaced or fixed. Here is how to get into contact with Google.

I hope that helps,

Jeran
