Removing old Chromecast from Play

Hi All, would anyone have a solution to how to remove an old Chromecast device (I no longer have it as the new one is a warranty replacement) from the list of devices in the Play store, as in the attached screenshot. Both 'Chromecast' refer to the new and the old one.

Thank you.

You can remove the device according to the instructions linked: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2407656?hl=en

  1. Go to your Google Account.
  2. On the left navigation panel, select Security.
  3. On the Your devices panel, select Manage all devices.
  4. Select the device Ashepherdson_0-1666186715216.png

     Sign out.
  5. If multiple sessions appear with the same device name, they could all come from the same device or multiple devices. If you want to make sure there’s no account access from a device, sign out of all the sessions with this device name.

Hi,

Thanks very much for this. However, this hasn't helped and so despite me signing out of the device, it's still showing in Google play.

At the top right, click your profile icon.

Click Library & devices.

Select the Devices tab.

Next to the device, unclick Show in menus.

Hi,

Thanks for the kind offer to help.

Ashepherdson's reply has provided a solution, but only a temporary one. I'd really want to know how to remove Chromecast completely - now that I no longer have it - rather than simply hiding it.

Cheers.

Hey there edinburgh_wg,

Aside from removing your account from Google Play, the steps that Ashepherdson provided are the only manual way of removing a device from Google Play. The devices will remove themselves after they haven't been used in a while. I know some users in the past showed interest in an option to completely remove the device, if you do as well, I'd recommend that you submit feedback to Google.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thank you,
Jeran
