In Canada, we can only access HBO content through a provider called Crave TV.
I am unable to search for HBO (or any) content on Crave TV using Chromecast with Google TV. I can search for shows (using voice) on Netflix, Prime, etc., but anything that is on Crave (including all HBO content) only comes up with the option to buy the show or episode. Search seems to ignore the Crave app.
If I open the Crave app directly and then open Crave's own search function, voice search will then find whatever show I am looking for, but this doesn't work from the Google TV home screen, only from within the Crave app. This defeats the key function of being able to aggregate and search all subscribed streaming services from the home screen.
Any ideas or fixes for this?
This is becoming ridiculous. Google TV has been out for quite some time now and we are still waiting for integration with Crave. Not sure if issue is with Crave or with Google, but sure it's frustrating.
Hey there VancityS4,
I'm sorry about the late response, thank you for your patience! I can understand why not having your most used app appear on the search results would be annoying. In this case, I would highly encourage you to submit feedback via Google TV to let Google know that this is a feature that you'd really like to see. Although Google won't respond directly to your feedback, they do read every submission and take them seriously.
I am sorry I couldn't have been more helpful, but if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!
I love the Google TV interface, it's smooth and well thought out. However, the previously discussed problem with CraveTV in Canada is apparently not the only bug. I have noticed that Amazon Prime does not integrate very well either. Does not show up in continue watching list, and any channels subscribed to on Amazon do not aggregate at all in Google TV.
Unfortunately this is making the user experience most frustrating as I am forced to just use the individual streaming apps as opposed to what should be a streamlined experience Google TV.
I totally understand where you're coming from, some applications don't have all the cool features on the Google TV home screen compared to others. Like I mentioned in the previous post, I would bring up which apps you would like to see have those options added to them via the Send Feedback option, as well as report any bugs you've noticed with specific apps. I know I would like to see more of my streaming apps appear in my "Continue watching" section!
