Dear Forum,
I have a chromecast (3rd gen) connected to my video projector, and can cast videos on it from my Android 8 phone using e.g. youtube without problems.
I have also a Chromecast built-in speaker (JBL playlist 150), and can cast audio on it, using e.g. Hifi cast, without problems.
I thought it should be possible to create a group with speaker and chromecast, and then get simultaneous playback when I e.g. cast a youtube video to it. However, this does not seems to work: I can create a speaker group using the Google Home app with both speaker and chromecast, but when I try to cast from youtube, I don't get the option, neither of the JBL speaker, not of the speaker group. I only get the chromecast 3rd gen as option.
Is there any way I could get chomecast pair up with a speaker for casting? Thank you very much in advance!

Hello mmpi,
Thanks for reaching out. While you can play or stream music and audio synchronously to your Speaker Group, casting from a video app like YouTube isn't supported. You can check this support website article to learn more about the Speaker group.
We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take this as feedback. You can also send feedback about this using the Google Home app. Here's how.
Let me know if you still have questions and concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.
Best,
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for your answer. That's really a bummer. I have been looking for a multi-room audio system, and given that I already had the chromecast device, I had thought it would be a good idea to go for chromecast-built-in as basis for this. I hadn't expected this wouldn't be possible. I will probably look for something else then.
In any case, thanks for your answer, which saved me a lot of error searching.
Best,
Matthias
