Soundbar

Hi there! I was successfully able to get the Chromecast to work with my Bose Soundbar. The volume and mute works great! However, unless I go through settings, there is no way to power on the Soundbar. Is there a solution I’m not aware of?

@joewoody121 if it's an older speaker CEC probably won't work with it -- I don't believe optical has the ability to send power on and off, the only way for that is with it being attached to an HDMI port. You can program your remote using the IR option in settings in CCwGTV, have you checked into that? My Vizio is set up that way, the power button controls the TV and the volume bumper will turn on the speaker but I have to manually turn it off using the Vizio remote.

Hello Joewoody depending on how you connected your sound bar to the tv. you can set the tv to wake up sound bar. my Bose 500 uses optical connection. and my Chromecast does turn it on . if it is off  I just say ok Google turn on the Bose. since it has google built in it. I need more info to get you going the other way it should work . what sound bar do you have? what remote?

Thanks for responding! I have an older speaker system, the Bose Cinemate II, and it doesn’t turn on automatically when sound comes through. Literally the only way to turn it on is by IR remote. I have the Chromecast 4K remote, which like I said, works the volume and mute just fine. I just wish there was some way to get it to power on the Bose. Like pressing power turns on TV, Chromecast, and Bose. Or maybe reprogram another button to turn it on.

with older systems like that, you are probably best to use the ARC\CEC power through HDMI,

Yeah, you are describing my exact situation.  I was hoping to just have one remote, but alas I'll have to keep around my Bose remote to turn it on and off.  Oh well!  Thanks everyone for their help!

google sideclick remote and see, it attaches to the one u have

Interesting, I may have to pick one of those up. I'd give you a Kudo if I had a button. 👍

For my wife tv I used power for tv and Bose solo 5   the Chromecast will power down and up automatically if that doesn't work p they make a side click for Chromecast remote Google and Wasserstein both do it has 8 programmable keys I believe . some tv remotes will work the Chromecast and my old Bose remote does work it also. if not contact Bose
