Streaming Plex on TV's Chromecast crashes laptop

Hello,

I've been using my chromecast for 2 years with no hiccups. The past few days, I've been having an error 6008 on windows event viewer (unexpected shutdown) when I stream plex on my TV's chromecast.

I tried updating anything necessary, cleaning temporary files, reinstalling plex, but to no avail.

The issue only happens when I stream plex on chromecast tv, streaming plex on my phone doesn't cause any problems.

I'd appreciate any help resolving this matter.

Thank you.

Hey there creatinemonster,

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast is having issues casting Plex. These issues can be tricky when there are so many factors involved, so I'd be happy to help. Let me just ask you a few questions about what is happening:

  • Does this issue only occur when casting Plex from your Windows computer?
  • Are you able to cast from Google Chrome on your Windows?
  • Are you using any kind of VPN or Firewall that may be blocking the connection?
  • Are the devices on the same network band, either 2.4GHz or 5GHz?

If we can test to see if casting work from Google Chrome from your Windows, that may help isolate the issue to Plex. However, if you cannot cast anything from your computer, it may point to an issue there instead.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
