I have a TCL L40FHDM11 TV and a brand new Chromecast with Remote. It doesn't seem to have a code to control my TV. I'm wondering if anyone has found a workaround or has an idea to fix this.

Hi Eveland,
Thanks for reaching out. Please try to plug in the Chromecast device on a different HDMI port on your TV then try to set up your Voice Remote by following the steps listed in this support website article.
If the same issue persists, I'd suggest you try to reach out to your TV manufacturer to check if they have additional recommendations as this could be a compatibility issue with your TV. On the other hand, you can try to use your phone as a virtual remote. Learn more here: Use your phone as a virtual remote control.
Thanks,
Jennifer

@JenniferV , the problem isn't with the actual Chromecast. The problem is with the compatibility with the TCL TV. I'm not able to use the Chromecast remote for TV actions such as POWER and VOLUME. It's looking like the Chromecast doesn't have the correct codes to operate my TCL TV.

Hi Eveland,
I'm sorry for the late response. Have you tried reaching out to your TV manufacturer to check this? If you haven't yet, please contact them for additional help.
Thanks,
Jennifer

@JenniferV , The TV code would have to be added/updated within the Google Chromecast, correct?

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. You can send feedback about this using the Google Home app so our engineering team can update the codes for this specific TV brand Here's how. Also, you can check with your TV manufacturer if there're some settings in your TV that can be configured to make it compatible with a third party remote. Updating the software of your TV might also help.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Hey there Eveland,
Thank you for submitting feedback on that! Sending feedback to Google is the best way to make them aware of certain brands and devices that need support. In the meantime, did you have any other questions or concerns we can address?
Best regards,
