TV doesn't respond after installing chromcast

I recently purchased a Chromecast with Google TV. I have a Samsung LED TV that is about 7 years old. After installing and setting up the Chromecast the TV often doesn't respond to remote input other than power. I cannot change the volume or switch the input or anything besides turning it on and off.

Hey @Jberk have you tried and followed directions in the setup flow to set up the CCwGTV remote so that it can control other things or did you skip that? If you skipped it you will now need to do this manually, provided the TV is supported by the CCwGTV remote.

The problem isn't the remote. There is a light on the TV that flashes when it receives input from the remote. When I attempt to change the volume or input source the light flashes, but nothing happens. It also happens with the TV remote, the cable remote, and the CCwGTV remote.

Well if it's not the remote, I can't help as I don't have information for TVs in general and yours specifically and this space is specific to support for the Chromecast with Google TV, not 3rd party hardware issues. The remote has two modes and if you haven't set it up correctly and added your TV it won't control functions properly.

Here's the help center article, good luck.

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help, GothamNY. I appreciate it.

Jberk, you may also check this support website article to see how you can set up the volume, power and input control on your Chromecast Voice Remote. On the other hand, if the issue isn't with the Chromecast Voice Remote, please contact your TV manufacturer for further assistance.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I think I have found a workaround. If I adjust the volume after turning on the TV but before turning on the Chromecast it seems to work. I had also contacted Samsung and they said that the TV isn't compatible with Chromecast. However, according to Google's site it should be. In any case, hopefully this will continue to work.
