Go to your wifi settings on your phone and find your Chromecast device there.

Go back to Google Home connect there.  It will then prompt you to connect your device to your home wifi.

Hi folks,

Thanks for helping out, MJH!

@Jkcann, do you still need help with this? If yes, could you tell us what's the LED light status in your Chromecast and the distance between your router and the Chromecast device?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Check if the Chromecast device is plugged into a power outlet, rather than the USB port.
  2. For iOS 14 or later devices, make sure the Local Network Access is turned on for the Google Home app.
  3. Manually connect to the Chromecast SSID. Here's how: Go to the phone’s Settings > Open Wi-Fi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234) > Go to the Google Home app and set up again.
  4. If you have a dual band router, check if it's connected to the correct network connection (2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz).

For more troubleshooting steps, please visit this support website article and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer

It's me again. I want to make sure you're all good — did those steps help?

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi there,

Just wanted to see if you still need help. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I won't hear back from you again.

Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future.

Thanks,

Jennifer
