I was wanting to add storage for the Chromecast with Google Tv. I bought a hub that just had a regular size usb port and a usb c port. When I hooked it up I seen it only using the usb c fur charging and didn't work with the ethernet. Wondering if anyone had luck finding a way to add storage while still using the ethernet adapter.

If you need to expand your setup using an USB-C Hub, for connecting various peripherals, you cannot use the official GCGTV ethernet adapter because it will not be able to deliver the required amount of power to run all the various peripherals.
You need a powered USB-C hub with built-in ethernet port, a power adaptor able to deliver at least 40 W of power and a USB-C cable for power delivery able to withstand the power output of the power adapter.

Do you know of a certain model that works?

There are various models available, but, just as an example, I can recommend what I use.
Baseus Metal Gleam Series 8-in-1 Multifunctional Type-C HUB Docking Station Space Gray
Or
Baseus Metal Gleam Series 11-in-1 Multifunctional Type-C HUB Docking Station
Both are very stable, hassle free and support gigabit Ethernet.
And as power source:
The power source is very quiet and does not "muddy" the audio signal which I send via USB to my audio DAC.

Hi! I just want to have a confirmation that the Baseus 11 in 1 Type C Hub works for you? I have a generic usb hub but it is not working as intended with only the chromecast but works with other android phones/devices.

Both baseus hubs work for me, but if you need an alternative you can choose a model reviewed on Android Central.
I use many of Baseus products because they are reliable and all work well so far.
