I don't have wifi, so have been using hotspot for my Chromecast for the last year - I am able to hotspot from my mobile to a second phone, which has the Google Home app as well as all the streaming apps. This had been working with no issues, until a few weeks ago.
I am still able to use my Hotspot for everything else. However, when I try to connect to the Chromecast on the Home app, my Hotspot doesn't show up as an option to connect to.
I have tried updating the app, resetting the phone and Chromecast, using different phones, etc.

Hi gracemac,
Using a mobile hotspot is not something that Google recommend, it's just a workaround that some users have found useful. I'd suggest making sure that you are not exceeding the device connection limit that can be an issue in some phones. And trying to factory reset your Chromecast and setting it up again with your mobile hotspot.
