Unable to to obtain MAC address'

My internet is Spectrum community solutions. I can't add Chromecast without a MAC address and I can't obtain the MAC address until I add Chromecast. How do I find the MAC address?

1. Start the setup process in the Home app.
2. When you get to the 'Connect to Wi-Fi' screen, tap the 3 dots at the top right.
3. Tap Show MAC address.

I have tried that a few times and the MAC address isn't available. I have Spectrum Community Solutions (Apartment complex where Internet access is Spectrum only). I need the MAC address to enable Chromecast access. I can't add Chromecast without the MAC address and I can't get the MAC address until I add the device in Community Solutions.

I may have to take the Chromecast to a friends house to get the MAC address then add it at home unless you have a better idea.

Any additional suggestions, if there are any, are appreciated.

Do you not see that option at the very start of the setup? Taking it to a friend or family member's house isn't a terrible idea!

I don't. I have tried connecting numerous times and the only choice is "Feedback". No mention of or link to the Chromecast MAC address.

Thanks for the help here, davidking.

BobK2, what type of Chromecast device do you have? If you have a regular Chromecast device, you may get the Mac address during the initial set up. Here's how: from the Connect to Wi-Fi screen, at the top right, tap the 3 dots > Tap Show MAC address.

On the other hand, if you have a Chromecast with Google TV, you will not be able to locate the MAC address during the initial setup. Please set up your Chromecast with Google TV using a different Wi-Fi network or hotspot. Afterwards, follow the steps below to locate the MAC address:

1. From the Google TV home page, go to Settings.
2. Select System.
3. Select About.
4. Select Status.
5. On the right side, you should find the MAC address.

Thank you for checking in. I did get to a friends house over the weekend. I was able to get in using their internet but unable to find a MAC address. The drop down menu showed MAC Address but wasn't highlighted before I was able to get in. After I signed in I couldn't locate MAC Address on the drop down menu. I went into settings and tried a few things there without success. I'm sure it's a problem with me. I likely won't be at their place to try again for a week or two. I will give it another try then and if it doesn't work I will be done or I may purchase the basic Chromecast. I believe I understand the basic will reference the MAC Address.

Hey there BobK2,

It may be a long shot, but I believe on either the box itself, or the plastic that surrounds the box, there is a sticker that would show the Mac Address. However, I doubt most people would keep the box, let alone the plastic.

I do have the box and that was the first place I checked a while back. It just references the manufacturing date and serial number. Not sure if that helps but they are:

Date: 8/2021

Serial number: 18051HFDE0Y90. Not sure if it's zeros or O's.

I was looking for the MAC Address on the Home App where I had a drop down. Once I was in at my friends house I saw I needed to find it on the TV.
