Using Chromecast Ultra via Google Home voice

Until recently I was able to operate the Chromecast Ultra integrated in the Google Home app by voice ("switch on" switched on the TV via the Chromecast connected to HDMI) this has recently stopped working.

 Why is this and is there a solution?

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out. Quick question — what is the make and model of your TV?

 

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure that your Chromecast firmware version is updated.
  2. Make sure your TV's firmware is updated by checking the TV user manual. You may also contact your TV manufacturer to verify.
  3. Make sure CEC is turned on (for some TVs, adjusting certain settings can turn off CEC automatically).
  4. Switch Chromecast to a different HDMI port.
  5. Unplug the TV, wait 10 minutes, and plug it back in. 
  6. Try using a different voice command.
  7. Reboot your Chromecast.
  8. Reset your Chromecast.
