Voice typing, disable assistant

Hi Everyone,

does anyone know if it is possible to use the remote just to dictate items to search?

The issue is the following: I open ... say... the HBO application and want to search for an item. I have to either use the phone or to type the name using the keyboard displayed on the tv.

I would like to say the title, however the google assistant will search through Play movies, Youtube, but will not enter the text into the search field.

Is it possible to use it only for dictating when entering text into search fields? the google assistant search has been able to search only thhrough youtube and ... as such has proved to be quite useless in my case.

Thanks a lot if u come up with a solution. I might have just missed something, but I guess I havent.

Hey there petrz,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! You are correct that the Google Assistant will not query searches based on different applications, but I agree that it would be something beneficial. If you have the time, would you be willing to submit feedback via Google TV to let Google know that this is something you'd like to see in the future?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran
