Hello,

I have problems with white artefacts and with changing of colour on screen during watching videos. It apears somtimes when I watch a newer film on Netflix either on Youtube. It is wierd that it apears only when it is some kind of newer movie. It depends when it is good video "good quality"??" it doesnt apear and I see normal video flow without any artefacts. Any ideas? Thank you for your help.

Hey there MichNA,

I apologize about the late response on this thread, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that artifact issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine it doesn't make for a very good viewing experience. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • What is the firmware version of your Chromecast?
  • Does this issue occur when you change the HDMI port that the Chromecast is plugged into?
  • Does this issue occur when you plug the Chromecast into a different TV?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hello Jeran,

Thank you for helping me. It does occur all the time from start, My firmware is 1.56.276477. The chromecast doesn't find any newer updates. This issue occurs when I change the HDMI port on TV and also when I plug the Chromecast into a different TV/PC screen. I have tried everything. Any tips from my description of the problem.?
Thank you for ideas, tips how to solve this problem.
Thank you

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us. What is the brand of your TV? Could you please try to set the Chromecast's video settings to 50Hz rather than 60Hz? See the steps below:

  1. Make sure that the mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or signed into or linked to the same account as the Chromecast device.
  2. From the phone or tablet, open the Google Home app.
  3. At the homepage, tap the device the customer wants to change the settings of.
  4. At the top right corner of the screen, tap Settings .
  5. Within Device settings, scroll down to Video Settings > Use 50Hz HDMI Mode
  6. Move the slider to the right to turn it on.

Thanks,

Jennifer
