What a disappointment. I had to uninstall Netflix and Amazon from Chromecast and return to watching them on my Smart TV connection because Chromecast does not provide a 5.1 surround sound signal. Perhaps Chromecast and these two streaming services - and perhaps others - need to establish a relationship to provide high quality 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

Chromecast with Google TV having trouble with 5.1 what happened with this thread with above 300 posts? Was it an issue sooo big, that you had to remove the whole thread? Is there something you want to hide for new users??

I am not sure if my most recent post on this topic was posted. If Google has not resolved the 5.1 sound problem after over 300 posts, that lack of customer support is reprehensible. I agree. Shame!

Hey there everyone,
I'm sorry to hear that you're all having these 5.1 audio issues. This is an issue that Google is aware of and the engineering team is trying to get as much data as possible. Would you be able to re-create this issue, then submit feedback to us with logs enabled? You can enter CCT3 Surround Sound into the description field.
Please note that it may take some time for us to find a long term solution for this issue. Thanks for your patience.

Alot of Issues with many descriptions as to why can be found on Reddit. This is a big dissatisfier for me. I'm currently using apps on my TV (Samsung led from 2016) to watch Netflix with 5.1 support. Fix this please.

I'm sorry that you're having these issues as well. As I stated above, Google is very aware of this issue and were gathering as much data as possible. Would you be willing to follow the steps that I offered in regards to submitting feedback? It would be tremendously helpful.

Done! Weird thing is that Apple TV+ is able to send Dolby digital 5.1 through. So it’s an app (NETFLIX, Amazon prime) issue.

I have decided to leave Netflix / Amazon Prime on my Sony TV for the time being and wait for everyone to get their act together. It takes time to transfer the apps back and forth to and from Chromecast with password entry, etc. Maybe in a few months, Google Chromecast, Netflix and Amazon will finally break down and decide to fix these issues, and when they do I am sure everyone will hear / know about it.
