Hi, I have the same issue. Just happened yesterday (in NZ). I get the message that the Chromecast was manufactured for a different country. I bought it here several years ago! And it has worked fine until yesterday, so what gives?

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community!

Lancelink, glad to hear that you were able to resolve your issue.

inkrat, could you please tell me the exact message you are getting when connecting the Chromecast to your network? What mobile phone are you using? Please try to reboot your Chromecast and WiFi router. If the same issue persists, please do a reset on your Chromecast.

sherrodmandy, what mobile phone are you using to cast/mirror your screen? Please check this support website article for more info.

Regards,

Jennifer

After trying lots of esoteric answers, I rebooted the router (should have done that first) and although the message about the Chromecast being manufactured for a different country still appeared (why does that weird message pop up?) it managed to connect to the wifi system. Needed to rest the CC of course.

Hey there,

It's me again. How's it going? Still need our help?

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for asking. No, the problem seemed to be solved by rebooting the wireless router; as I remember during the setup of the Chromecast, after rebooting it, the issue of 'this Chromecast is manufactured for a different country' did appear but it didn't prevent my connection.
I bought the Chromecast here (in NZ) but it was through a parallel importer so the device might have been for? Nothing indicated on the packaging though.
Cheers,
Mark
