YouTube TV home area wrong

CreekFreak

I'm probably in the wrong area for this so I apologize in advance.

I use YouTube TV and it's been fantastic! But the past 2 weeks it randomly glitched and changed my home area to Ohio rather than Alabama. I've tried everything to get it to change back on the Chromecast with GoogleTV but it will not. I've deleted the app cache and data but no luck.

Works fine on the computer and Fold3 phone. I've tried updating the home area on both of these devices to see if it would help, but no.

Any other suggestions out there?

Hey there CreekFreak,

I apologize about the late response on this, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that location issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine that this is a confusing problem. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • What is the firmware version of your Chromecast?
  • Do you have your location set up on the Google Home app?
  • Do you have your location set up in the Google Play app?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

I tried nearly everything I could. I deleted the app, cleared cache/data, reinstalled, changed areas on my PC and verified them in the Android app. During that same time one of my Nest Hubs even advanced to EST which was annoying too. All devices were on the latest updates and even attempted factory resets. Nothing i did ever resolved it for either. I had to cast from my phone for the longest time to avoid the issue. It eventually went away on its own.  Which is sad cause I wanted to know how to avoid it in the future lol

Hey CreekFreak,

Again, I am sorry about the slow responses on this thread, the forum has been backed up, but that is no longer the case. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that the issue eventually went away on its own! There could have been a couple of issues, either a VPN changing your location, or maybe different Google apps having different addresses, such as Google Home and Google Play, etc.

In the meantime, did you have any other questions or concerns I can address?

Best regards,

Jeran
