i have a pair of nest audio speakers that are paired in stereo. works great. i also have an old unsupported chromcast audio unit that i created a speaker group with so that i can feed a subwoofer. the problem is it will only allow one single volume control for a brief period then i have to control the volumes seperate, sucks. anyone have any ideas? so far i havent had much luck with an old chromecast first gen through an hdmi audio extractor. i wish google had a product for this purpose. i love to cast my audio because bluetooth takes the phone hostage and i dont want to deal with audio interuptions

The sonos patent lawsuit made it that google can't control multiple devices in one go.

Hi there,
Thanks for the input, @FluffyPrincess.
@robheth, we can no longer be able to control the volume of all the speakers in a speaker group at the same time. This includes from the Google Home app, on display devices, and using Assistant voice commands (ex. “Change [group name] volume to 50%”). We will need to control the volume for each speaker in the group individually.
We don't have information on whether this feature is coming back, and unfortunately, don't have anything additional to share at this time. You can send feedback about it. Let me know if I can assist you in anything else, otherwise I will be locking this thread in 24 hours.
Regards,
Alex
