I have a chromecast with google tv and an iPhone 12. Is it possible to mirror my phone to this chromecast. I have tried everything except paying for an app.

Just to be really clear your question was if you could cast your screen from your iPhone to a Google device. It's the same question of can I cast my Android screen to my Apple TV the answer is no because they're different companies. If you're asking if you can cast apps for free then the answer is yes. There's a whole slew of compatible apps such as Plex, TuneIn radio, YouTube of course, and much more, that you will be able to cast with no additional costs.

Install Google Home for iOS on your iPhone, and cast only applications compatible with Google Chromecast.

To answer you specific question no, iOS cannot cast the screen natively to Chromecast.

Disappointing that I can subscribe to google apps that will enable me to this but they don’t come free with the chromecast.
