Hey there Adrian314,

I'm sorry about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that casting issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • Does this occur when casting the tab, or the desktop?
  • How long is the delay? (1 second, 2 seconds)
  • How many devices do you have on your network?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hi Jeran

Since the beginning I believe. When casting vídeo the delay is not “painful” but when trying to cast the computer to use the tv as a monitor, is not possible… the delay is not to big but just enough to make it unusable for this purpose, like one second? Aprox

So for this purpose I cast de desktop.

I have several devices in the network now but it was the same when I had fewer. Couple nest devices, some smart lights…

Is it possible to really cast instantly for a computer monitor usage?

I didn’t try many troubleshooting things as I was reading in forums that nothing will really avoid the delay.

thank you!

Hey Adrian314,

A delay of about a second or so is natural, I don't think there is any way through casting to 100% remove the delay. You can lower it a bit by reducing your Wi-Fi latency, give the Chromecast as much bandwidth as possible, and by using a 5 GHz network band over short distances with little interference. However, there will always be a bit of a delay when casting your desktop.

Best regards,

Jeran

It’s a pity that delays needs to be always there. It makes it unsable for casting a desktop and working. If knew this before buying it I would have not bought it.  Really regret buying it.

I'm really sorry to hear that. When it comes to casting a desktop, Chromecast is not designed to work with anything that requires precise, no-delay casting such as gaming I'm afraid. It's been designed around casting movies, videos, pictures, etc. If you just bought that Chromecast device, and you aren't happy with it, you could look at returning it.

I'm sorry I couldn't have been more helpful, but if you had any other questions or concerns, I'd be happy to help out.

Best regards,

Jeran
