iPlayer stops every 10 minutes for screensaver

Is there any known reason why the BBC iPlayer app pauses streaming and shows the screensaver after 10 minutes? It's not after 9 minutes or 10.5 but 10 minutes exactly. This app is installed on the GCCwGTV rather than streaming from another device and it only seems to be this app with the issue.

Anyone know how to stop it from doing this?

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear about that. Please clear the cache and data of the affected app and reinstall it. Rebooting your Chromecast might also help.

Hi Jennifer and thanks for taking the time to respond.

I've tried your suggestion of clearing the cache on the iPlayer app but unfortunately it didn't fix the issue.

So I moved onto your next suggestion of restarting the device. This is something I do fairly frequently anyway but it's worth a try. Unfortunately this too didn't fix the issue.

During my navigation of the menus for the previous steps I noticed a setting for energy optimisation (or something similar). I tried turning this setting off for the iPlayer app but once again it failed to fix my issue.

One last roll of the dice had me uninstalling the iPlayer from my GCCwGTV, rebooting and reinstallation. This time I was able to stream a program for more than 10 minutes without it showing the screensaver. Hopefully this has resolved my issue and this narrative might help others too.
