living room tv and chromecast device are connected to the same wifi, but still won't connect

When I try to setup the Chromecast with the living room tv, I keep getting an error message saying "living Room Tv could not connect to [Wi-Fi network]-check your input"...BUT the living room tv and Chromecast device are connected to the same WIFI.
