I am in Canada as well, and used to have this problem when using English(Canada) , what I ended up doing was switching to English(us) and no more french !

Go to Settings.

Select System.

Select Language.

Set the language to English (US).

I realize I typed too quickly and you said you already use English us...  Sooooo... Try switching to English Canada.  Sometimes just switching languages and rebooting will fix the issue.

not an option unfortunately

can you check again?  If it is not there then I suspect a localization issue.
