C by GE lights intermittently stop working with Google Home control, now with disappearance!

C by GE lights intermittently stop working for periods of time with Google Home control. All of them stop working at once then, at some point in the future, will begin working again. It's very frustrating and happens at least once a week (not at same time or on same day). Other lights (Wiz by Phillips, for example) seem unaffected.

Now they have all disappeared from my home account and none of these lights works with Google Home anymore.

Re-Posting since my previous question was summarily closed with no response (other than "did you see our response" (which doesn't appear to exist) after 90 days) here: Previous Google Nest Community Post @GarrettDS

Hi twomonkeysayoyo,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about your experience with your C by GE lights. Since C by GE lights are the only affected bulbs and I know that you pretty much done the same thing but we need to setup the bulbs in the same room as the GH device. Also, we need to make sure that they do the troubleshooting steps below in order. You may have done most of the steps but we need to make sure it has to be in order:

Step 1: Ensure the bulb is working on its own
Step 2: Power cycle the bulb
Step 3: Ensure Home app is up-to-date
Step 4: Force close the Home app
Step 5: Reboot router
Step 6: Reboot the Google Home device
Step 7: Factory reset the bulb
Step 8: Use the Cync app to see if the bulb can be found (do not complete the setup)
Step 9: Set up the bulbs in the GH app.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

Hey  Princess, thanks for the response.

Step 1: Ensure the bulb is working on its own --BULBS.  all 9 of the Cync bulbs do this simultaneously.
Step 2: Power cycle the bulb -- yes, of course.  Have done many, many times.  This is an ongoing and pervasive issue.
Step 3: Ensure Home app is up-to-date -- how many updates have I done over the 2 years I've been having this issue?  How many versions of Home have there been?
Step 4: Force close the Home app -- Done.  This is every phone in my Home group (my wife's, my daughters, mine...all pixels).
Step 5: Reboot router -- reboot. Replace. Reconfigure.  So many times.
Step 6: Reboot the Google Home device -- what is this?  The phones?  I've done that.  This isn't a new issue. It's one I and many others have written about.
Step 7: Factory reset the bulb -- I have done this. And re-added.  I've gone so far as to have completely deleted my GHome (of ~50 devices) and reset up everything. Heck, I've even MOVED.
Step 8: Use the Cync app to see if the bulb can be found (do not complete the setup). --Yes
Step 9: Set up the bulbs in the GH app.--they remain set up, or removed and set up.  It is all of them.  9 bulbs.  None of them work when one of them doesn't work.

Now, that above is a response to the intermittent loss of control of the bulbs.  The latest issue with the bulbs no longer even appearing in Home is new.  I've been able to reset and re-add SOME of them.  Some of them will not reset. I don't feel like this explains why they all disappeared out of the GH. Nothing new was added to GH at that time.  Perhaps an update to GH?  Maybe your devs have an explanation.

Thanks and regards

Have you had any response to this yet?

Hi  twomonkeysayoyo! I had the same problem for just north of two years, did all the things that Princess mentions above, and found that the bulbs are just crap.

Someone will inevitably also tell you to make sure you're only connecting over 2.4GHz, that's also not going to actually help you.

The thing that helped me was going over to other bulbs. I now have 13 factory-reset c by ge bulbs available SUPER CHEAP for anyone who wants them, though...

Seriously, don't let sunk-cost hold you on those bulbs, get something like the Sylvania or the Phillips Hue. It will cost a bit but it's cheaper than the stroke you're going to have trying to get the GE bulbs to work.
