In the morning my hub shows picturesn ok but when you swipe down only the picture frame option is displayed. The clock is displayed fine but shows no temperature just a few squiggly lines.
When I get my phone and open up the home app the temperature is then displayed and them swipe down menus then appear. However in the early hours it then reverts back to not showing the temperature and the only thing available is the photo frame option. Until I get my phone out and open the home app again and this happens daily for at least a couple of weeks.
It looks like you have this same problem that Google Nest has acknowledged but has not yet fixed:
