We’ve had the Google nest doorbell for some months now, it has gone offline on occasion but this time I can’t get it back online

Hi ScHardstone,

Thanks for visiting the Community. I’m sorry to hear that and for the delayed response. Let’s sort this out — a few questions: do you have a Nest Doorbell (wired) or Nest Doorbell (battery)? What's the status light of your Nest doorbell? How far is your doorbell from the router? Are there any other devices that experience issues with the WiFi? Also, were there any changes to the WiFi network?

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

  • Restart your Nest doorbell.
  1. Locate the reset button at the back of the doorbell.
  2. With a pin, press and hold the button for 5 seconds.
  • Restart your modem or router, unplug it from the power outlet for 1 to 2 minutes then plug it back in.
  • Factory reset your doorbell.
  • Remove your doorbell from the app then add it back.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

I removed the doorbell and added it again, it’s working ok now x

Unfortunately it’s gone offline again. It works as a doorbell but doesn’t activate when someone comes up the drive. I’ll have to try and sort it out at the weekend. It’s so annoying x

Hi there,

Oh no! Thanks for keeping me posted. Sounds like a plan! Let me know if anything comes up.

Thanks,

JT

Hi ours has been offline for a few days now @janthadeus we have done the steps above several times and still not back on. Backyard camera and lights are working fine. Only doorbell is offline. It’s battery operated.

Hey Mariainthepines,

We appreciate your efforts here. Let’s have a better look — what’s the status light of your doorbell?

Thanks,

JT

I am so sorry, I completely forgot to reply, I’ve just been busy. Yeah it went offline again so I removed it from the home app, factory reset it and just started again. So far so good
