How do link nest to google home app, when nest is already installed?

I have recently set up Nest learning thermostat and have the nest app up and running on my phone. I want to add my husband so that he can also use it feom his phone. So we both downloaded the Google home app as instructed, but to link it, it is asking for the qr code or key code, but I have already attached it to the wall and used the code on the display to connect to the nest app. Any ideas how I link it up?

Did you add your husband to your "home" in the Google Home app?

Also, The Nest Learning Thermostat (and Nest Thermostat E) get installed in the Google Nest app, but should also AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app if you are logging onto both app with the same Google Account. You cannot install them in the Google Home app.

For the last year, many customers in this forum have reported this isn't happening, and many have tried this workaround with success:

1) In the Google Nest app, create a new, temporary Google Nest "home/structure".

2) Go to that new, empty Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app and delete it.

3) This apparently forces the 2 apps to sync and the thermostat then appears in the Google Home app.
