Mirror new device to tv. Instructions?

HELP PLEASE

  I simply want to  connect my new Chromecast with my tv. I have followed directions. Directions seem incomplete because I'm not connected two hours later. Another hour  and...well...my dog is impatient and would live a new toy. Can someone help a simple old vet? I'm getting tired. 🤯🫡
