My Google Hub worked pretty well, until a few weeks ago when I was having an unrelated issue with it. I called CS and they had me do a complete reset. Now, I still have the same issue (Hub restarts itself a couple times a day), but it also will not speak my notifications. Instead it just shows briefly on the display. If I happen to be looking, great, otherwise, I won't catch it. It doesn't tell me the notification, just that I have one. It will still wake me up to an alarm, just that Google Assistant speaking seems to be affected by this.
I'm hesitant to call "customer service", as they seem to have caused this in the first place. I think I got a lemon, but it's past the 60 days to return it. If I can't get this working, I'll be switching my Hub and Next Mini to Alexa or Chromecast. What a mess.

Wow. This has been so long. Yes. My Google Hub has become nothing but an alarm clock (and not very good one), and video picture frame to me. I'm about to switch my place over to Alexa. I have a Hub and a Nest. The nest or my phone are now often answering when the Hub should be. The Hub will no longer even give me verbal notifications. This got much worse after Google told me to completely reset my Hub (button in the back). It won't connect to my Roku. No longer controls my cameras properly, and won't connect to my bathroom light Now it's like having a huge paperweight.

I am sorry to hear about the trouble and frustrations that have occurred with your device. I know this is not an ideal situation. Do you mind me asking if you could try another factory reset on the device? I would also recommend double-checking the account that is logged in, and ensure it's showing inside the app. If not, I would recommend removing, and re-adding that. Please let me know if that helps.
