Nest Cams don’t work with automation

So I just signed up with ADT for security monitoring and they sold me some Google Nest cameras as well. Finally figured out how to connect ADT to Google Home. I’m new to Google Home and automation and have been very disappointed so far. I want to have a simple automation that turns on the indoor cameras when I arm the alarm. All of the actions are available in the automation but when I go to save it says the combination of starters and actions are invalid.

What the heck? Please tell me I’m doing something wrong and that Google Home is not this limited.

Hey @MMJ_610 - Which interface are you using to try to create this automation - script editor on home.google.com or the routine editor UI in the Google Home app? Based on the error, I assume you're trying to create a Household Routine from the routine editor UI in the Home app but I wanted to double check first.

Hey @nickfromgoogle  appreciate the reply. I am using the automations/household routine auditor in the Home App. If it’s possible from the script editor I’d be glad to give that a go.

Got it - I don't have the ADT devices you mentioned but check out our script editor help article for info on how to get started with writing scripted automations. This may allow you to achieve the automation you're looking for. Let me know if this works for you!

I've some some luck with the script editor but some actions still just error out. For example when trying to arm my ADT system I get: [ERROR] Action failed for: [ADT] with no explanation why.

Sorry for the delay @MMJ_610. Have you tried adding the armLevel parameter to your Arm action?

Can you share the ADT device model and a redacted copy of your script? Be sure to remove any PII, sensitive device names, etc.

I am having the exact same issue. I had just upgraded my ADT Cams to Nest and the automation is horrible. I have Ring, Blink and Eufy (by far the best) and this is the worst customization I have ever seen and no integration with Adt control
