Nest Smart Thermostat Keeps Going Offline

Alex_K

Hello everyone.

I installed two Nest learning thermostats into my home a week ago; one for downstairs and one for upstairs. The thermostat for downstairs has worked continuously without problem The thermostat upstairs has become progressively worst. At first it went offline from which I was able to reconnect. Then it started to happen more frequently, but always reconnected it when I corrected the situation. And then to the point where it wouldn't reconnect at all. I performed these trouble shooting steps:

1. Ensured the thermostat had the most recent software release.

2. I had the most recent Nest App update on my phone.

3. Tested the strength of my wi-fi. It was excellent.

4. Finally did a factory reset.

The problem seemed to correct itself after the factory reset I did a few days ago but now it is returning to 'offline' again.

Any suggestions?

Hello Alex_K,

I know it's been a while, and I'm sorry to hear the issue is still happening even after resetting it. Let's sort this out.

If your Nest Thermostat’s battery level is low, it will disconnect from Wi-Fi. This is to conserve power so it can continue controlling your system. To check, go to Settings > Technical Info > Power. The battery level must be at 3.8 V. If you are wanting to reset the device, I would recommend following these steps below.

Important: You should remove your Nest Thermostat from your Nest account before using this option to reset Account Connection.

  1. Press your Nest Thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Choose the Settings icon.
  3. Turn the ring to reset and press to select.
  4. Choose Account Connection.
  5. Add the Nest Thermostat back to your account.

Keep me posted on how it goes.

Regards,

Mark
