Nest Wires Heat Pump vs Gas

Converting to a nest from Honeywell and nest sees my gas unit as a heat pump.  

any ideas? Cooling working fine.

Hello Anatorian,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. Let's sort this out.

Does your Heat Pump have emergency heat or Auxiliary heat? If it's an Aux heat, the wire should be in the W2/Aux terminal, which is a backup method that many heat pumps use when the weather outside is too cool for the heat pump to work efficiently. Try moving the white wire to it and the red wire to the RC terminal. Then, restart your thermostat to refresh.

Note: Turn off the power from your HVAC system at the breaker box before touching any wires.
