Nest guard factory reset not working

LN123

Hello! We bought a house recently that came with a nest guard. We don't have any key fobs or codes for it unfortunately. I pressed five to restart it which was successful. When I press two for 10 seconds plus to do a factory reset as recommended by my newly downloaded nest app, nothing happened. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks

What happens if you try these steps?

  1. Set Nest Secure to Off with Nest Guard’s keypad, or the alarm may sound.
  2. Press and hold the 2 button on Guard’s keypad. Do not release the button while Guard goes through a software version and check. When Guard says, “Release to erase all settings,” let go of the button.
  3. Guard will speak again and say, “Erasing all settings and returning to factory defaults in five seconds. Press any button to cancel.”
  4. The light ring should turn yellow and begin a 5-second countdown.
  5. To cancel the reset, press any button before the countdown ends. If you don’t cancel, the light ring will spin blue and Guard will say, “Erasing all settings. This might take a minute."
  6. When it’s about to restart, it should say, "Nest Guard is restarting. Be right back."

Yes, I called the nest support line, and they were very helpful. I think one of the rookie errors that I made was not having my phone on the same Wi-Fi network as the nest guard. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi LN123,

That's awesome! But just to confirm, were you able to resolve your concern when you called Nest tech support?
