Nest protect false smoke alarms during the rain

I had three false alarms last night with our Nest smoke alarm and according to this thread, it seems like this is likely due to the rain. This is really not acceptable. This humidity is nothing out the ordinary and the alarms are traumatizing our dogs and guests in the middle of the night.  I have cleaned the unit and it doesn't help. Please advise how I might fix or can  return these units.

@kovocked thanks for posting here in the community. I know how confusing it is when you have false alarms. Let's go ahead and see what we can do here. To confirm, is this the first time that it happened? Does the issue only happens at night?

 

Give these steps a try:

  • Perform a safety checkup to your Nest Protect.
  • In case you're still getting the same issue, you may try resetting your Nest Protect to the factory default.
  • Remember that after the reset, all the history will get removed as well.
