Nest speaker cannot play specific sporify playlists

Trying to use automation and typing in the specific spotify playlist name causes the assistant to play similar sounding playlists or just using the first few letters to pick a random playlist.

Example: "Hey google, play 'my sleep playlist 1234". It will instead play a random other spotifiy playlist called 'sleep'

I have tried everything from

-unlinking and re-linking my premium spotify account

-trying to insert the spotify playlist URI

-changing voice recognition

-restarting the Google nest

-and more.

Whats the point of automating your songs and night time/morning routines if it just plays random other songs??

Nest Mini or Nest Hub?

Nest Minis have been problematic lately, but my Nest Hubs have been working flawlessly.

For Nest Hubs I've found that changing my own Spotify playlist name to include my name and spelling mistakes helps to make the playlist unique.

I then make an automation to start the playlist but with a special Tweek so that the introduction isn't heard before the music...

Hi ggalczyn,

Thanks for posting in the community and to @SmartHomeH-TAGS for jumping in! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble getting your Nest speaker device to play specific Spotify playlists, even after trying various troubleshooting steps like re-linking your account and using URIs. It's certainly frustrating when your routines are disrupted by incorrect playback. I'm here to help!

To find the best solution, I have some questions for you:

  • What's your Nest speaker device model? Please check out the following link for your reference: Google Nest and Home device specifications
  • Besides "Hey Google, play 'my sleep playlist 1234'", have you tried other phrasing for the exact same playlist, such as: "Hey Google, play the playlist 'my sleep playlist 1234' on Spotify."?
  • Is your Google Home app updated? Visit our helpful link to check it: Update the Google Home app

I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Juan
